#HereComeTheKershaws

One year today, one year today, la la la la, one year today!

Yep, that's right, you're still stuck for another year with me talking about weddings - soz.

This time next year, I'll be waking up with my fabulous bridesmaids and starting to get ready for the big day - I'm so excited! If I feel this excited now, when it's still 365 days away, God help the girls having to deal with me in the days leading up to it & the morning of the wedding!!

It's going to be such a special day. As it would anyway, being our wedding day. But the date holds so much significance to us both & our families that it's going to be even more magical.

Incase you didn't already know, both our parents got married on exactly the same day. When Tom and I first discovered this, I knew it was a sign.

I'm not sure if I've ever really believed in fate, or anything like that, but I think this could definitely be an example for it.

Two years ago, after Tom and I became reacquainted thanks to the beaut that is Tinder, we were exchanging messages on 6th May.  Tom asked what I was doing, to which I replied "Just getting ready to go out, it's my mum & dad's silver wedding today." He replied "No way, it's my mum & dad's silver wedding too!!"

On 6th May 1989 both our parents got married at pretty much the exact same time - what are the chances?!  For them to have shared the 6th May as their anniversary would be strange enough, but for it to have been the exact same day was just incredible.

My parents got wed at St. Wilfrid's Church in Brayton, whilst Tom's parents married at Howden Minster.  The weather was absolutely gorgeous - it was a red hot day (something I hope passes on to us for our date!)  I always remember my mum telling me the tale of having all the pictures taken.  She said it was so hot that she was really thirsty, and was holding half a lager behind her bouquet in all the pictures to sip in between.  Go on Janey Babes!

When we got engaged last year, after I came back down to earth, one of the first things we did was check when 6th May was next a Saturday.  Given the special significance that date holds for us, we never even considered another day for our own wedding.

So next year, on the day we get married, our parents will celebrate their 28th wedding anniversary on our wedding day.

Some people might think it's silly to get married on the same day as them, and that we should have our own special day that's significant to us.  But neither of us wanted to ignore the significance or the special connotations that came with 6th May.

The only problem we'll have, which we didn't really think about, is roping our parents in for babysitting duties when we want to go out for our anniversary in the years that will follow!

When we tell people the tale behind our chosen wedding date it's so lovely seeing their reaction.  It's almost as if it is fate.

All we'd need now would be to have a baby on that date - then we'd definitely make the news/the This Morning sofa!!  Holy hell, my dream of meeting Ant and Dec could still come true!!

Our parents both getting married on the same day wasn't the only strange coincidence that Tom and I stumbled across.  Both our parents live at number 66.  The house that we bought was plot 66, and is number 6.  Then, of course, there's the 6th May link.  Lots of sixes!

It was after Tom realised the six pattern that he decided we should have six kids - suddenly I became less than enthused...

It feels like we have been counting down to our wedding day for forever.  And, heck, it's still a year away - it's not like it's next week or anything.  But I imagine now it will come round in no time - and I can't wait.

I just hope we are blessed with the same weather we are having at the moment - but even if we aren't it won't ruin a thing for us.
