I couldn't think of an inventive title about this 'weight loss' post given my gains (and not the good gym kind!)

It's official - I gained weight over Christmas/New Year and nobody killed me. I didn't get shouted at, I didn't get publicly humiliated in group, and I wasn't extradited.  I put on 2lbs over Christmas and, whilst a gain was expected, I did expect it to be bigger than that.  So I was mega happy.  I never thought I'd be happy about putting on weight!

This week, I put half a pound on and whilst it was the best gain it could have possibly been, I was so gutted.

I didn't bother with a blog post last week or keeping a food diary because it really wouldn't do anybody any good to follow it.  I ate pannetone for breakfast almost every day, had cranberry and orange spiced muffins, ate loads of biscuits and chocolate, drank everything in sight, ate cake... It was just like my pre-Slimming World days!!  Whilst it was nice not to think of syn values or say no to every temptation around me, I did start to miss my SW eating habits.

By Boxing Day (just three days into my SW week) I was eating salad using up my leftover Christmas meat and was starting to make wiser choices about my meals.  I didn't stop myself having anything but I did start to think a little bit more about what I was eating.

I was expecting to have put about half a stone on, so I was very happy with just 2lbs!  My total loss, as of 30th January, was 1st 2.5lbs since 11th November (seven weeks).

This last week has, arguably, been worse than Christmas week was eating-wise.  I really wanted to lose the 2lbs that I put on over Christmas but, when you see how badly I've eaten, you'll see why that didn't come off.

I drank a lot on New Year's Eve and nibbled on lots of crisps, sweets and chocolate (as you do when you're a bit tipsy) and on New Year's Day I just wanted to eat all the crap that was leftover. After doing this, I then went out for a big fat Indian.

The following day we went to the coast and, even though we walked for about two hours, we shared fish and chips - and those probably did a lot of damage.  We then went to a buffet at my mum and dad's that night where I had chicken bites and pepper/carrot sticks - good choices.  Then, before I knew it, I had a mince pie, some profiteroles and a slab of cheesecake on my plate.  *Must learn self-control once more*

From Sunday, I was determined to try and make my week right.  But I already knew it was too late. I thought I might have made a big enough effort to undo the damage but that pesky half a pound stuck around. Meaning I'm now 1st 2lbs lighter than when I joined.

My week was very much made up of two halves - Thursday to Saturday was full of naughty, whilst Sunday to Wednesday was Slimming World friendly.  I was back on the overnight oats for breakfast (which I've become a huge fan of) and was prepared with dinners and teas (mainly because I made so much I was fed for the week!)

I was so desperate to make up for my naughty three days that I went to the gym on Sunday morning - for the first time in about six weeks!!  I also went on Tuesday and Wednesday, determined to get a maintain at best from this week.  But, obviously, the damage was already done.

Whilst I'm a little bit annoyed about my little gain, I can kind of see where it's come from. Even though I've been back on plan for the second half of my week, I've also been unwell this week (one of the symptoms of which is a sure-fire way NOT to lose any weight.)

I'm not going to beat myself up about it, though, because that won't change the results on those scales.  I'm still a damn sight lighter than I was when I started SW, and a whole lot lighter than I would have been than if I had waited until now to start.  From this week, there is nothing standing in my way to shed those pesky Christmas pounds.  I am 110% back on plan and determined to reach my target before Easter.

Bring. It. On.

My action plan for this week is to lose 3lbs. I intend on trying some SP days and cutting out ALL the
crap. Wish me luck! :) x
